Daitai means "about" in Japanese.
Daitai Vintage is slow-fashion business run by a few Bay area nerds who care more about pacing ourselves with passion projects, over commercial goals. Our head curator Momoko, is a heritage menswear designer. Through the lens of cultural impact, fit intent and authenticity, Daitai has become a site full of did-you know moments, and one-of-a-kind treasure hunting.
This site functions like a living archive. Every item is here because it teaches us something, not just because it is tied to a trend or a brand name. We find the storytelling fascinating, and it gives us context for why we feel good in certain clothes. Vintage study anchors our design work and keeps us curious about what craft and quality means. We then move inventory so we can keep learning and growing.
Daitai Vintage sales support the SIP Circle. We hold clothing design workshops, house accountability groups for the Bay Area creative community, and enjoy the occasional pop-up with local shops.
